Edward is seen here giving a wink and trying to be hip on "Laugh-In".The show was famous for it's ad-libbing and ability to keep the censors on their toes. Here Edward makes the joke "You need a show like this to tell the nuts from the sweets." Censors in the 1960's would not allow the word "nuts" on tv for the negative connotation it lent to a person's mental state.
